Forever doodling polygons while on the phone

A picture is NOT worth a thousand words… nowadays.

Hello folks, gotta let out a rant here on the amount of useless fucking pictures that people tend to post up online.

Pictures used to be something that was expensive, rare, and special.  Limited by the film roll, each picture taken meant that you were burning 1/24th of your reservoir. Furthermore, the time and effort that went into developing pictures meant that photographers made sure that the photos they were taking were worth developing. However, things  started to change with disposable cameras and Polaroids and now pictures became something that were easier and cheaper to mass-produce. People decided to stop being as careful and thoughtful about how the pictures were being taken and used. Finally, we went digital, and when we lost the 24 picture limit and cost per photo went down the number of pointless photos exploded all across the internet. Then our phones got the ability to take pictures and finally we are getting “Here is an album composed of 129 photos where its just me and my girlfriends smiling, with an occasional photo of us committing a faux-pas!”

Fucking stop it. No one cares that you had a good time at a restaurant or a bar. Actually, some may, but not to the fucking extent that they are willing to riffle through endless streams of worthless photos that barely hold any significant meaning, both to you and to anyone else. I mean, I actually do appreciate photos of your newborn or your family at a special occasion, but when you update your albums every day all day with digital photos of your friends’ backsides, a piece of sandwich you ate but decided to not finish because you were too full, your and your friend’s shoes that happened to be both red, an ordinary chipotle visit, etc. it DRIVES ME FUCKING CRAZY.

Is it that hard to realize that 99% of your pictures are pure shit and should not be posted when you are taking 50 photos a day, every day? You’re not Ansel Adams, you know.

Anyways I leave it at this: demonstrate your passion and love for photography in a manner that is more subtle, less self-serving, and less egocentric. Please.
